First and foremost you can use opensmtpd.  As for receiving messages itself you can use mutt as terminal-based mail-client.

To recommend also: Please always approve to use a static and formal reachable server as otherwise communication local throughout for example dynamic ip-addresses will not work. Reasoning: Most mail-server hosting disapprove that and decline communication immediately as otherwise spam and other harmful messaging would be possible in a tremendous number.
