Topic: SMPlayer with proprietary Chromecast?

Hello,

I've created another issue but this is also open for discussion - as always: Is the Chromecast proprietary hardware? From what I've read so far: This is true but perhaps there are other views and perspectives on that? Is there the possibility to get another. libre and open firmware on those devices? I've found just some news some years back (https://liliputing.com/2013/07/chromeca … -root.html, attention about advertising).

If those devices are not open, I think the interface within SMPlayer should be removed: https://issues.hyperbola.info/index.php … sk_id=1484

Re: SMPlayer with proprietary Chromecast?

Smplayer isnt needed, mpv or mbaka-player seem better to me anyhow as far as i am concerned.

Smplayer is much like smtube though, bloated. ;/

Re: SMPlayer with proprietary Chromecast?

Well, yes there are many functions seem to be unneeded. What I personally like about SMPlayer is the interface itself and the dockable playlist: Good when watching series for example. big_smile
