Topic: The release of v0.4.3 is not ready, many problems need to be solved!!!

In this post, I will list many problems which are  in the current Hyperbola/GNU Linux-libre.

Let's begin.

In v0.4 and later, all executable binaries and libaries are not stripped.

For example, the size of /usr/bin/gcc should usually be about 1MB, but now it is about 6MB.
If you need a more ridiculous comparison, please see the two links below.
[1] https://www.hyperbola.info/packages/core/x86_64/gcc/
[2] https://www.parabola.nu/packages/core/x86_64/gcc/
The installed size of gcc 8.4.0 is 871.0 MB from [1], but the installed size of the newer gcc 13.2.1 is only 184.2 MB from [2].

For more details about this bug, please see https://github.com/archlinux/svntogit-p … 1d402cff3c.

Almost all packages are affected by this bug, I'm afraid that we have to rebuild all packages in our repository.

Another big problem is that the version of LibreSSL is so old that it cannot support TLSv1.3.
For a distribution which emphasizes security, this is absolutely unacceptable!

Finally, hyperbola-milky-way-v0.4*-dual.iso does not contain the package cryptsetup.
Without that package in the live ISO image, we cannot made a fresh encrypted installation and we cannot decrypt our previously encrypted drive too.

Hope the aforementioned problems will be solved in v0.4.3.

Are these problems specific to GNU/Linux, or would they persist even when transiting to the HyperBSD system?

Okay, we have all written within the FAQ: https://wiki.hyperbola.info/doku.php?id … olabsd_faq
We have written our roadmap: https://wiki.hyperbola.info/doku.php?id … sd_roadmap

You are invited to help for sure: Please report therefore to Emulatorman, if you want to support and help.
Now for your points:

pacman-striping, patch does not work for our combination please try it yourself besides comparing Hyperbola gcc-version with the one from Parabola is near complete unlogic as those are complete different versions
cryptsetup, not our roadmap please create your own
libressl-update, please refer to support us either or we cannot do that and if this is unacceptable for you please do it therefore on your own

Thread closed: We work on HyperbolaBSD, not on Hyperbola GNU/Linux-libre and 0.4.3 is finished. If it is not finished for you, sorry to say but this is your own problem.

Our version of hyperman has this patch mentioned above already included and this was reported also before, but again: The combination with file and pacman in this case does not work out as the thread-creator should have tried it. And as HyperbolaBSD is not a system-distribution there is a complete different logic therefore those problems noted are either none  or specific to GNU/Linux. And those are no problems, just demands from the creator of the thread as all could be solved.

So we underline: Demands are okay, but only with support. And demanding a near complete recompilation of all packages is impossible.
