On the phone, install an ftp server, such as "prim-ftpd"
and on the computer ftp client e.g. filezilla

Hello . Thanks for the recommendation. Usually on Devuan (for example) this is a couple of commands:

adb device

adb push test.jpg /sdcard

I wonder why this utility is not in the repository if it is in Replicant? => https://redmine.replicant.us/projects/r … 003-images

I would also be interested to know what is the replacement for Bleachbit GPL3 = > https://www.parabola.nu/packages/extra/i686/bleachbit/ A good program for cleaning the system  and Flameshot  https://www.parabola.nu/packages/commun … flameshot/ much more functional than Scrot https://www.hyperbola.info/packages/extra/i686/scrot/

Re: Recommended programs after installing Hyperbola

The package android-tools is not here, because you need a big amount of GO to compile everything. And those tools are not compliant with gcc-go. I have tried many ways and others the same. The result stays the same.

Please look for the packages you named on the dependencies: Most of them make use of environments we do not offer out of clear reasoning. Or they demand bloated frameworks we do not offer like dbus, polkit and others. Also here: We have tried and try the best to find fitting software-projects for most purposes.

And please: Replicant is a complete different project with a complete different perspective and direction. Comparing Hyperbola with this is not working. For file-handling on that devices we can offer: android-file-transfer

Coming now back to GO: There are several reasoning we do not include that.

1. GO is downloading dependencies direct on build-time which we don't support. Remember we are security-focussed and long-term oriented. Downloading some git-versions is violating our essential ruleset.
2. GO is not supporting compilation as we had also tried to do that and most only support now 64bit. Throwing away 32bit-support is nothing we go for and do not support also.
3. The outcome of packaging is outside control therefore when building big projects and android-tools is that.

Please read also why we do not support comparisons: https://wiki.hyperbola.info/doku.php?id … ble_system
If there is interest to work on a PKGBUILD for android-tools with gcc-go and it works: Cool, please let us know and share it. smile

Re: Recommended programs after installing Hyperbola

Okay, I got you. Thanks for the clarification.

8

Re: Recommended programs after installing Hyperbola

I can name some GO-projects we have made usable with much amount of work and the maintainers / packagers had a really hard time with them wink

https://www.hyperbola.info/packages/2fa
https://www.hyperbola.info/packages/dnscrypt-proxy

Thanks to the packages for the hard amount of work. smile

Re: Recommended programs after installing Hyperbola

Yes, these are useful programs, thanks for the work.

I would like to leave a link to android-file-transfer ( android file transfe ) =>  https://wiki.archlinux.org/title/Media_ … ilesystems  here for those who are looking, I’ll test everything works.

The user on the phone (section for developers needs to enable "File Transfer"; this can be found by searching: usb or default usb configuration or something like that, depending on the model and firmware of the phone.

10

Re: Recommended programs after installing Hyperbola

Please note also that the local user needs to be modified when using android-file-transfer: You need adbusers and uucp then.

Re: Recommended programs after installing Hyperbola

Throgh thanks for the clarification, you're right. After installation via Pacman, a notification appears that you need to add the user to these groups, I don’t quite understand why adbusers have 997))

cat /etc/group
adbusers:x:997:jim

Hello Cyncfm . As for phones, I don’t know if this topic can be discussed here, but I’ll write you my opinion)) the problem is not that I or you won’t have a phone, but that 99.9% of the people around you use it and whatsapp app, here is an example from one of the libre kernel developers  Jason Self.
=> My Mother Is On Facebook  https://jxself.org/mom-on-facebook.shtml
If something happens to you or your loved ones, how will you contact medical help? Even Librem5 and Phinepone have many proprietary components. Complex topic...

Re: Recommended programs after installing Hyperbola

I think I need to add one more useful program to the list => bash-completion
A convenient utility for not having to enter all the commands, just press TAB

13

Re: Recommended programs after installing Hyperbola

I agree with you, we will wait until the libre community develops such a device.

14

Re: Recommended programs after installing Hyperbola

Hi all . I couldn’t find radio programs in the repositories to listen to the radio ?.

I would also like to know what is the replacement for the dunst program - notification-daemon?

15

Re: Recommended programs after installing Hyperbola

We do not provide any notification-daemon as this most of them demands D-Bus. We also do not provide internet-oriented player-systems as radio results within this. You can surely configure mpd for that purpose if you like.

16

Re: Recommended programs after installing Hyperbola

Can't herbe be used for notifications? It does not used d-bus.

17

Re: Recommended programs after installing Hyperbola

Hello schilling.klaus. Thanks for the tip, yes, on github it says Daemon-less notifications without D-Bus. Minimal and lightweight.

Herbe => https://github.com/dudik/herbe

Perhaps there are other options..

18

Re: Recommended programs after installing Hyperbola

Hello Cynicfm. Thank you for your answer . I know this method, but rather it’s an alternative option of 10 steps instead of 1 or 2))

Let me correct you. To access a limited list of radio stations, you need to click on view => playlist > Icecast Radio Directory. We will see a small list of private stations..

You can also manually enter links to radio stations as you wrote.

For example, you cannot enter into VLC to select the station you want, etc.

I would like to have a simple graphical application for listening to radio around the world. The radio always works))

Re: Recommended programs after installing Hyperbola

Hello Throgh.  I checked the daemon is working, it is also available for OpenBSD => https://github.com/dudik/herbe/pull/4

Herbe => Daemon-less notifications without D-Bus. Minimal and lightweight.

20

Re: Recommended programs after installing Hyperbola

herbe is not a service and nevertheless a nice tool, kept for sure in Hyperbola. But as many software do not support external calls and only support D-Bus and libnotify it stays as a nice addition, but not a working replacement: https://www.hyperbola.info/packages/herbe

21

Re: Recommended programs after installing Hyperbola

Sorry for my English ))
Did you add it (herbe)? Or was he? I couldn't find it before))

22

Re: Recommended programs after installing Hyperbola

herbe was there since release 0.4 itself. smile So it is long part of Hyperbola and will make it also for HyperbolaBSD.

23

Re: Recommended programs after installing Hyperbola

I understood you, so I missed it, I'm sorry..

Tell me please, does it need to be configured using scripts or does herbe work like dunst?

24

Re: Recommended programs after installing Hyperbola

I have already explained why herbe is a nice addition but really not a comparable service-notification.It is not like dunst as really - and I mean teally all - implementations works on D-Bus. Hyperbola declines that out of reasoning: https://wiki.hyperbola.info/doku.php?id … us_failure

dunst is not possible to run without D-Bus. herbe is a notification helper, but not a daemon. You can make own notifications from scripts and programs calling D-Bus external will also work with that. Everything else using libnotify won't get anything from that.

Got you, thanks for the explanation. Then scripts are our friends))
