Topic: Machine learning - ai

Hi there,
nice to read about Hyperbola still rejecting AI. This could sound a bit hypocrite from my side, I do my scripts to analyze my experimental data, including my (small) machine learning model. However, I prefer my OS not having AI and not making decisions for me and not sending anything anywhere.

Unfortunately, these days AI (or similar) is coming into mainstream OS without possible rejection. Of course Win&Mac, but now we know RedHat is trying to puss AI into Fedora, and sure others will come. Like any new technology in the past, one thing is an user operating certain technology, and another is a technology at the service of the vendor. At this point I am not sure which model or how respectful will be main Distros at this regard, but for sure I can imagine a large implantation also in Linux-base systems next ... 5 years, hopefully optional.

Hopefully also, in 5 years  there will exist space for systems still trying to be just a OS.

Hello, it is not only about the rejection as Hyperbola has also a strong perspective on the way users can interact with their installed system. Speaking of every single facette and part of it: At every given time running the user should be having the control. Also it will be and is even now this field of large language models and algorithms is an acid test for free software. Handmade and written workpieces are important as we can call source-code that way. Something created from a machine is not in any way comparable and should not be part in the process of creativity.

Final stating for the moment also: The so-called "artificial intelligence" is not only not helpful but also a complete desaster and to call high danger and risk for any kind of democratical stance and perspective. For me speaking: People engaged and interested to preserve democracy should speak up against "artificial intelligence" and large language models in advance.

Human being in favor with clear principles and so also for freedom in soft- and hardware!

Certainly anyone who has the power to make you believe absurdities has the power to make you commit injustices: For a life of every being full with peace and kindness, including diversity and freedom. Capitalism is destroying our minds, the planet itself and the universe in the end!
