Topic: Cinnamon-session
Did a new install of Milky Way v0.2.5. But cannot launch Cinnamon-session because of dependencies on systemd. I tried editing with Dconf but no luck.
Suggestions?

Indeed. I suggest that you open a bug to report it, here is the full error message :
cinnamon-session: error while loading shared libraries: libsystemd.so.0: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory
Meanwhile, you can install xfce or mate instead.
if hyperbola doesnt even include libsystemd, thats a step ahead of devuan. someone needs to tell them.

Cinnamon is down right power hungry. I would anyday of the week prefer XFCE or Trinity when it becomes available for Hyperbola rather than that annoying DE.
meh...
But yeah, rant aside, Devuan does need libsystemd for testing and unstable I believe... so yeah... Kudos to emulatorman!
We should definitely send some money to them via transferwise. I already have btw.

yeah i wish i could... If i had a job probably most of my money would go to Hyperbola development team...
Besides cinnamon is on the list for removal. Perhaps it'll come back with version 0.5 but I have doubt about it as desktop-environments like Gnome and some more include even more functionality from systemd over time and this takes even more work for removal. Work and time which could be better used elsewhere on the way towards a free, libre BSD.

Is the such a big choice of desktop environments good anyway... I been using this linux distros for over 3 years and i still can't decide which desktop envionment to use... At the moment i am with kde/openbox... Have used i3 windows manager for some time... I am fan of xfce... Although there is always something else...
So what i am saying is that i'd rather see 2 or 3 desktop environments available on linux-libre than 10... Why just try do remove these components instead of stop provide them... Does the desktop environment matter so much anyway... I am okay with just window manager, haha . Although it might be sad to be stuck with some obscure mate or something similar when modern candy look desktop environments are being invented... And then if somebody wants to use these nice DE must start use systemd... It could be crap for some libre-linux user...
I know that for most new to linux users what's better for them compared to windows is that they can try many desktop environments etc. But for me having to 'choose' one certain desktop environment to get used to is pain... As i am used to just one... as i have had used windows for many years...
btw i have downloaded cinnamon yesterday and there was the same bug libsystemd needed haha ;p.

Well, good for a removal as this desktop-environment is just therefore not functional without systemd.
